THE JEREMIAH STUDY BIBLE

WHAT IT SAYS. WHAT IT MEANS. WHAT IT MEANS TO ME.

I want people to understand what the Bible says, what it means, and what it means for them. These three things are central in my thinking when I prepare to preach, and they serve as the framework for the structure of The Jeremiah Study Bible.

What it says.

Look inside

The goal of the Jeremiah Study Bible is to help people understand what the Bible says-and particularly, what is said in its original context. If the text was originally written as a letter, for instance, what would those original recipients have understood? I want to be true to the text. The first thing anyone should do is read the Bible for what it is and for what it says.

What it means.

It's important to talk about what Scripture means. How do I interpret what I'm reading? Obviously, there's room for some opinion, but overall the Bible is a self-interpreting book; we interpret one passage by another passage. A student of the Word of God should never stray too far from "what it means."

Jeremiah Study Bible

I seek to explore, "what does it mean for me?" and then I try to help God's people understand what it means for them. In many of the notes and special features of this Bible, practical application is a key component. Application is at the heart of my approach to ministry and to the Word, and it is what helps see the Word in people's lives, by the power of the Holy Spirit.
