Imprisoned Again!

2 Timothy 4:7, 8

Because no sacrifice was too great for his Lord and Savior, Paul was imprisoned several times for preaching the gospel (2 Cor. 6:5). In the city of Philippi, he was thrown in jail and then released when it was discovered that he and Silas were Roman citizens (Acts 16:16–40). He also spent time in prison in the city of Caesarea in Acts 23—24. The book of Acts ends with Paul once again in prison in Rome (Acts 28). It was probably during this time that Paul wrote the Prison Epistles (Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, Philemon).

Paul was eventually released from prison in Rome and carried on further missionary work, during which he wrote 1 Timothy and Titus. Now, Paul is in prison again—and this time he will not be released. Sentenced to die, he has time for one last letter, this final letter to Timothy.
