What Should We Make of the Woman Caught in Adultery?

John 8:1-11

Some of the early manuscripts of the NT do not include this story of the woman caught in adultery in John's Gospel. But even if it was not part of the original Gospel, it is probably a genuine story about Jesus that is consistent with the way He treated people. Rather than approving the woman's actions, Jesus told her, "Go and sin no more." As He commanded her not to sin, however, He also extended mercy, grace and forgiveness to her, characteristic of the way He treats everyone.
