How should we think about Satan?

Job 1:7 - 2:7

Satan is a fallen angel, not another deity who opposes God. He is created, not a creator. He is subordinate, not sovereign.

Satan was sentenced at the cross of Christ. The sentence has not been fully carried out, but one day it will be. For now, he is on the loose and free to roam the earth—a frantic, desperate creature who knows his days are numbered. Until he is chained in hell (Rev. 20:1-3), he will continue, "seeking whom he may devour" (1 Pet. 5:8). This is not only to kill but also to destroy believers' influence so the work of God is maligned and God disrespected.

Because we live in that period between Satan's sentence and his final judgment, Christians should keep their guard up (1 Cor. 16:13) while remembering that they do not have to succumb to him. No matter what the enemy does, God is greater.
