Crown of Rejoicing

1 Thessalonians 2:19

The Greek crown (stephanos) was a laurel wreath or garland placed on the head of those who excelled and became champions in the Greek athletic games—the precursor to our modern-day Olympics. The crown of rejoicing—one of five heavenly crowns mentioned in the NT that God will reward to the faithful—is awarded to believers who have won souls to Christ.
