A New Commandment

1 John 2:7

John assures his readers that he is writing something they already know rather than a new commandment. Today, many Christians are infatuated with anyone who claims to possess a new teaching. They seek the key to living the Christian life, thinking, Certainly there must be something more that I need! But John reminds us that we already have all we need in God's Word. That is where God equip His people to live life as He intends.

A new teaching is not necessary! Next time you are tempted to buy into the latest "secret to abundant life," open up your Bible instead. That's your answer. All it contains is all you need.
